Shining the Light on awakening

In 1976, greatly inspired by Thomas Merton’s The Seven Storey Mountain, I wrote in my journal “One day, I’m going to write a book.” Though I fancied myself a writer, I never had any illusions about my writing skills. What I did have was loads of persistence. At the time of this writing, I have written 5 books and coauthored a 6th. However, it is only when I was halfway through the writing of Making Peace with God that it occurred to me that this was the book I was, one day, going to write.

Although the journey began with Making Peace with God, it is while writing Leaving the Desert that my childhood mystical quest for the truth about life and the nature of reality was truly fulfilled. Writing became part of my healing process. Although I promised myself that Leaving the Desert would be my last written work, somehow, it seems that the writing phase of my life is not yet over. I have since completed Choosing the Miracle, again, on the subject of the spiritual life and A Course in Miracles. My life truly has come full circle, but the big difference is that now I have a lifetime of experiences and a teaching that resonates with the truth I sought for so many years, and no doubt, lifetimes too.
