I was pleased to discover a simple vegan recipe for &#8220;Cheezy Quackers&#8221; in Celine Steen&#8217;s <em>500 Vegan Recipes<\/em> with a similar flavour. This is an awesome book with fun and creative ways of using healthy ingredients to prepare wholesome foods!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve made a couple of modifications, doubling the original recipe for starters&#8211;just too good to make a small batch!&#8211;plus, I use a mix of flours (spelt, buckwheat, oat, whole wheat, soy&#8230; whatever I have on hand). I also added additional seasonings. I&#8217;m sure you can adapt this recipe to your tastes. Great with a split pea soup or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paulineedward.com\/inthekitchen\/soupe-aux-gourganes\/\">soupe aux gourganes<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2 cups flour (mixed)<br \/>\n\u2154 cup nutritional yeast<br \/>\n\u00bd cup nondairy butter<br \/>\n1 teaspoon sea salt<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon freshly ground pepper<br \/>\n1 teaspoon onion powder<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon smokey paprika<br \/>\n\u00bd cup water or nondairy milk<\/p>\n<p><em>Instructions<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F (180\u00b0C)<br \/>\nCombine all ingredients except nondairy milk in food processor. Alternatively, cut butter into dry ingredients.<br \/>\nAdd most of nondairy milk. Process until dough begins to form. Add just enough milk for dough to form a ball.<br \/>\nRoll out dough between two sheets of parchment paper or plastic wrap to about \u00bc inch thick.<br \/>\nCut into shapes. Reshape and roll out remaining dough.<br \/>\nPlace biscuits on lightly oiled baking sheet.<br \/>\nBake about 15 minutes.<br \/>\nCool on rack.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Crackers &#8216;n cheddar are a great accompaniment to a hearty soup.
